WHAT IS IT? Thor MX’s top-of-the-line offering is the light and racy Prime Pro gear. Since 2014, this gear has undergone multiple chassis and fabric updates, but it remains lightweight and breathable, giving you the impression that you’re not wearing motocross gear. It’s more like wearing Lycra gym clothes.
WHAT’S IT COST? $64.95 (jersey), $169.95 (pant).

WHAT STANDS OUT? Here’s a list of things that stand out with the 2022 Thor MX Prime Pro gear.
(1) Jersey. The first word that comes to mind when slipping into the Thor MX Prime Pro jersey is “modern.” The body of the jersey is constructed from four-way-stretchable polyester that is lightweight and breathable. It is ventilated with microscopic holes that allow you to actually see through the jersey. The main body of the jersey features laser-cut vent holes on the sides of the torso, as well as on the back of the neck. The tail of the jersey extends 2-1/2 inches, with silicone print on the end to help it stay tucked into the pants. The sleeves are made of a different polyester/spandex material that comfortably moves with your arms. The sleeves also feature laser-cut perforation holes all throughout.
(2) Pants. Like the jersey, the lightweight Thor MX Prime Pro pants are see-through. Thankfully, the transparent areas are limited to the side of the legs and are not noticeable until you take the pants off to wash them. The pre-curved chassis eliminates excess material. The main chassis is made from a stretchable non-binding material that moves with your legs. The pants have laser-cut vent holes that work with the translucent mesh fabric on the sides to promote airflow and keep you cool in motion. The pants also have full-grain leather inner knee panels and high-denier fabric on the seat of the pants for increased durability.
(3) Fit. The Prime Pro gear has an athletic fit. The spandex material used in both the pants and jersey easily conforms to your body. Additionally, the pants have a ratchet-type closure with a Velcro sans-a-belt strap on each hip to allow 4 inches of wiggle room. Our test riders liked the fit of the 2022 Prime Pro gear.
(4) Durability. Back in 2019, we complained about discoloration in the seat of the Prime Pro pants. And, as per usual for lightweight gear, we found holes in the knees from wear and tear. For 2022, our black pants did not get discolored, and the knees held up surprisingly well with less damage. Our main squawk was tears in the jersey sleeves. Cool spandex sleeves come at the cost of durability.
(5) Options. The 2022 Thor MX Prime Pro gear comes in three different styles: the flashy Prime Theory gear, the dark green Status gear, and four color options of the clean yet bold Hero gear. Thor’s sizes go larger than most brands. The jersey sizing ranges from small to 4XL, and the pants range from 28- to 48-inch waist sizes.
WHAT’S THE SQUAWK? We like to have our cake and eat it too. Translation: We want lightweight and breathable gear that won’t tear when you look at it sideways. The pants improved big time since our last Prime Pro test, but the jersey sleeves suffered tears on each bicep.
MXA RATING: Its purpose is revealed in its name. This gear was designed for Pros in their prime. Even though it’s more durable than it was last year, it is not made to last; it’s made to go fast.
